Jaane Jaan

Jaane Jaan centres on Maya D'Souza, a single mother in Kalimpong whose quiet life is upended when she and her teenage daughter Tara become caught up in a crime. Their neighbour, Naren Vyas, a gifted mathematics teacher, offers his help, while a determined police officer, Karan Anand, works the case and closes in on what happened.

The film is a crime drama directed and written by Sujoy Ghosh, and it stands between his 2012 film Kahaani and his 2023 anthology entry Lust Stories 2 in his filmography. Kareena Kapoor Khan plays Maya, with Jaideep Ahlawat as Naren, Vijay Varma as Karan, and Naisha Khanna as Tara. It was produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Sujoy Ghosh, and runs 139 minutes.

Jaane Jaan was released on 21 September 2023. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 17,000 votes, and on TMDB it also has 7 out of 10, from roughly 120 votes. The two scores agree closely, but the much larger IMDb sample carries more weight as a measure of how the film has been received by a broad audience.
