Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman

Dr. Cheon makes his living performing fake exorcisms. A psychiatrist who does not believe in ghosts, he uses his understanding of people's minds to convince clients they have been cleansed, while his assistant In-bae helps stage the rituals and the pair build a following through a YouTube channel. Their routine is interrupted when a woman named Oh Yoo-kyung asks for help with her younger sister, who she says is possessed, and offers a sum large enough that Dr. Cheon cannot refuse. At her house he encounters events that his usual tricks cannot explain.

The film is a 2023 Korean release directed by Kim Seong-sik from a screenplay by Park Joong-seop. Gang Dong-won leads as Dr. Cheon, with Esom as Oh Yoo-kyung, Lee Dong-hwi as Kang In-bae, Heo Joon-ho as Bum-cheon and Kim Jong-soo as Mr. Hwang. It mixes action, crime, fantasy, horror, mystery and thriller elements across a 98-minute runtime, and was made by CJ ENM and its partner studios. Released on 27 September 2023, it took about 14 million dollars worldwide. On TMDB it holds 6.2 out of 10 from 59 votes, a modest figure that suggests a limited response rather than a broad one.
