The Roundup: No Way Out

Detective Ma Seok-do moves from his old precinct to the metropolitan investigation unit, where he takes on Japanese gangsters operating in Korea and a drug trafficking case tied to a new synthetic narcotic. His investigation brings him into conflict with a ruthless dealer and with yakuza who have their own designs on the drug trade, while he pursues the case alongside new colleagues.

The film is the third entry in the crime action series built around Ma Dong-seok's detective character, and the second directed by Lee Sang-yong, following The Roundup in 2022. Ma Dong-seok leads the cast, with Lee Jun-hyuk, Munetaka Aoki, Lee Beom-su, Kim Min-jae and Lee Ji-hoon in supporting roles. Kim Min-sung and Cha Woo-jin wrote the screenplay, and Kim Kyeong-taek produced. It runs 105 minutes.

Released in May 2023, the film took in roughly 83 million dollars worldwide, a strong return that reflects the series' broad commercial reach. On IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from more than eight thousand votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.3 from a smaller pool of voters. A film critics' rating of 7.1 from thirteen reviews places it close to the audience scores, indicating a comparable reception across viewers and reviewers. It was made by BA Entertainment, ABO Entertainment, Hong Film and Plus M Entertainment.
