The Kill Room

The Kill Room follows Patrice, the struggling owner of a New York art gallery that is not making money. She becomes involved with Reggie, a hitman, and his boss Gordon, who need a way to launder the proceeds of their criminal work. Their arrangement takes an unexpected turn when Reggie's painting, created to give the gallery something to sell, attracts serious attention, and he is hailed as a mysterious new avant-garde artist. The sudden success pulls the art world and the underworld together, and the money it generates leads the trio into dangerous territory.

Nicol Paone directed the film, her second feature after Friendsgiving, from a screenplay by Jonathan Jacobson. Uma Thurman, who also produced, plays Patrice, with Joe Manganiello as Reggie and Samuel L. Jackson as Gordon. Maya Hawke, Debi Mazar and Dree Hemingway appear in supporting roles, and the credited cast numbers 39.

Released in September 2023, the film runs 98 minutes and was produced across the United Kingdom, India and the United States by companies including BondIt Media Capital, Yale Productions, Head Gear Films and Metrol Technology, with a reported budget of 50 million USD. Reception has been modest: on IMDb it holds 5.5/10 from around 9,900 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.9/10 from 308 votes.
