The Nun II

Set in France in 1956, The Nun II follows Sister Irene as she investigates the violent murder of a priest at a boarding school. What begins as a killing that defies ordinary explanation soon points to a demonic presence spreading through the school and beyond, and Irene is once again forced to confront the entity known as Valak. The film continues the story begun in The Nun, with Taissa Farmiga returning as Sister Irene alongside Jonas Bloquet as Maurice, while Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell appear in supporting roles.

Michael Chaves directed the film, his third feature after The Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and it precedes his later work on The Conjuring: Last Rites. The screenplay is credited to Ian B. Goldberg, Akela Cooper and Richard Naing, with James Wan and Peter Safran producing for New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster and The Safran Company. It is a sequel within the wider Conjuring series of horror films.

Made for a budget of 38 million dollars, the film took around 270 million dollars worldwide, a strong return relative to its cost. Reception among audiences was moderate: it holds 5.6 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 80,000 votes and 6.6 out of 10 on TMDB from about 2,580 votes, while a film critics' rating stands at 5.2 out of 10 from 137 reviews, placing critical appraisal slightly below the audience scores.
