Species III continues the story of a human-alien hybrid line. Eve gives birth to a daughter, Sara, shortly before dying, and the scientist Dr. Abbot takes the child into his laboratory and raises her in secret. Sara matures rapidly into an adult woman of striking appearance, and she is driven to find a mate and reproduce, leaving deaths behind her. Her killings force Dean, a chemistry student working with Abbot, to weigh whether he should help her kind survive. Meanwhile, other hybrids with similar DNA, including the unstable Amelia, are also searching for Sara and for a way to continue their line.
The film was directed by Brad Turner, whose earlier credits include The Inspectors and The Inspectors 2: A Shred of Evidence; it is the third of the five features listed for him, followed later by Prison Break: The Final Break and Trigger Point. Ben Ripley wrote the screenplay, David Dwiggins produced, and the cast is led by Sunny Mabrey as Sara, Robert Knepper as Dr. Abbot, Robin Dunne as Dean and Amelia Cooke as Amelia, among 33 credited performers and 96 credited crew members.
Released in 2004, Species III runs 111 minutes and belongs to the action, horror and science fiction genres. It was produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and FGM Entertainment in the United States. On IMDb the film holds a critics' rating of 3.6 out of 10 from six reviews, while on TMDB it has a rating of 5.2 out of 10 from 490 votes, indicating that general viewers responded somewhat more favourably than the small group of reviewers.
