Conclave

After the Pope dies without warning, Cardinal Lawrence is given the task of running the centuries-old ritual by which the Catholic Church chooses a successor. He and the other cardinals are shut inside the Vatican until a new pope is elected, and as the voting unfolds, Lawrence comes to suspect that some of the men around him are working toward their own ends. He also learns something that casts doubt on the institution he serves, while the outside world waits for the traditional signal that a decision has been reached.

Conclave is a 2024 drama and thriller set in Rome and based on a novel by Robert Harris, with a screenplay by Peter Straughan. Ralph Fiennes leads the cast as Lawrence, alongside Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Isabella Rossellini, Lucian Msamati and Carlos Diehz. It was directed by Edward Berger and produced by Tessa Ross, Alice Dawson and Juliette Howell; it followed All Quiet on the Western Front in Berger's filmography and came before Ballad of a Small Player.

Made for a budget of about 20 million dollars, the film took roughly 128 million dollars worldwide. It has a score of 8.1 out of 10 from 337 critics' reviews, a rating of 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb from around 255,000 votes and 7.2 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 3,600 votes.
