Shepherds

Mathyas is a young advertising executive from Montreal who leaves his urban career to become a shepherd in Provence. Seeking peace, he instead finds a physically demanding profession and struggles with the reality of rural life. He meets Élise, a former civil servant who also abandoned her job. Together, the two are entrusted with a flock of 800 sheep and embark on a transhumance through the mountains, where they face various challenges while building a new existence.

This drama was directed by Sophie Deraspe, who also co-wrote the screenplay. It is the second film in a chronological sequence of her work, following Antigone (2019) and preceding The Final Act (2026). The movie is a joint production between Canada and France, created by micro_scope and Avenue B Productions. The main cast features Félix-Antoine Duval and Solène Rigot, supported by Michel Benizri, David Ayala, Véronique Ruggia Saura, and Younès Boucif, among a total of 45 credited actors.
