Short description

In 1934, a wealthy recluse named Lewis Findley brings six strangers to his private estate on an island in southern England. Among the guests is Miranda Green, an aspiring detective and florist who is drawn to the mysterious nature of the invitation. The gathering takes a dark turn when one of the visitors is killed, forcing Miranda to uncover the malicious conspiracy behind the event to save herself.

This mystery thriller was directed by Stephen Shimek, following his work on Joey and Ella and The Adventure of A.R.I.: My Robot Friend. It is one of five films in the director's career, preceding Guardians of Time and Murder at the Embassy. The screenplay was written by Brian O'Donnell and the movie stars Mischa Barton as Miranda Green, alongside Chris Browning, Bianca A. Santos, Giles Matthey, Grace Lynn Kung, and Seamus Dever.

The film has received a mixed reception from viewers. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 5.1 based on 2,500 votes, while on TMDB it has a slightly higher score of 5.6 from 198 votes.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The detective, played by Clark Carmichael, declares that the killer will spend the rest of his days behind bars. The film is set in Great Britain in 1934, so the criminal could very well have been sentenced to the ultimate penalty.
  • At the beginning of the film, when Miranda, played by Misha Barton, is in a bookstore, she is shown opening a book to a chapter dedicated to Edmond Locard (1877-1966), one of the pioneers of forensic science. The so-called "Locard's principle"—the fundamental principle of forensics—states that "every contact leaves a trace," meaning that when two objects come into contact with each other, traces of that contact are inevitably left on both objects. For example, if a person is struck on the head with a piece of wood, a mark will remain on the head indicating that the blow was delivered by a wooden object, and similarly, traces of hair and skin will necessarily remain on the wood.
