Matthew was born in Coral Springs, FL. After being abandoned and set on a boat headed north on the Mississippi, the nearly 3-month-old infant only had the kindness of strangers to thank for his survival. This experience shaped his filmmaking. His surreal style and sense of humor are rich with middle-American imagery. Matthew is well-known for his collaborative efforts with the likes of Andrew Recker, George Azar, Henry Kombol, and Collin Huber as well as his solo efforts where he would often lose himself in the autuer process.
