A true citizen of the world, Minkyoung Kim was born and raised in Nairobi, where her love for storytelling began with dog-eared novels swapped at local bookstalls and makeshift outdoor screenings of Bollywood and Nollywood classics. Her childhood—steeped in Kenya’s vibrant oral traditions and the kinetic energy of its cities—taught her that every frame, like every conversation, has a pulse.

At 19, she relocated to Seoul to study film at Yonsei University, drawn by Korea’s bold cinematic language. Though initially homesick, her gift for connection turned subway chats into friendships and film-set coffee runs into mentorships. Today, she’s known as much for her razor-sharp editing as for her ability to disarm a room with laughter—or a perfectly timed film quote.
