What's left behind the scenes
- In the original script for the pilot episode, the girlfriend of Murray Thompson (played by Nick Offerman) was only ten years older than his daughter Violet (played by Nina Bloomgarden), which led to constant friction between them. The girlfriend was removed from the series to focus on the father-daughter relationship.
- Nina Bloomgarden's character mourns her recently deceased mother. Shortly before Bloomgarden was offered the role, her own father passed away.
