What's left behind the scenes
- The plot of each episode is built around real news, actual events, or rumors that were truly circulating on the internet.
- The script for the fourth episode was inspired by the story of NXIVM (a commercial network marketing company that offered paid personal and professional development seminars based on its own program) and its founders and leaders, Keith Raniere and Allison Mack.
- The third episode is based on real events. According to Tiffany Haddish (a comedian, actress, and writer), singer Beyoncé was indeed bitten by Sanaa Lathan (a theater, film, television, and voice actress) in 2018. Much is borrowed from real life in the next episode as well. It refers to Ellen DeGeneres's interview with John Legend (a singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer), in which she tried to find out who actually bit Beyoncé.
- The sixth and seventh episodes are based on real events. In 2018, a man named Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell rushed onto a stage in Atlanta where Beyoncé and Jay-Z (a rapper, songwriter, music producer, and entrepreneur) were performing. The use of the name "Tony" in the series further reflects the reality of these events.
