What's left behind the scenes
- Bryan Cranston played the role of Griffin Mill. This was the name of Tim Robbins' character in Robert Altman's thriller 'The Player' (1992), in which he ran a movie studio. In the role of Mill, Cranston drew inspiration from producer Robert Evans (1930-2019). Cranston claimed that the real-life prototype of his character seemed like a bore to him, so the actor preferred to emulate Evans.
- The opening scene of Robert Altman's 'The Player' lasted nearly 8 minutes. The duration of the scene opening 'Studio 60' is close to 7 minutes.
- Ron Howard later recounted that in a conversation with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (the former was the director and lead actor, the latter the director and screenwriter), he insisted on playing a significant role rather than appearing on screen for just a few seconds in a cameo. Howard also mentioned that he had never made such demands before, and that it was actually interesting to 'feel like a goat and a creep.'
