What's left behind the scenes
- Joan Van Ark and Ted Shackelford moved from "Dallas" to "Knots Landing" in the roles of the kind but poor Valene and Gary, the middle Ewing son.
- In the second season, Donna Mills joined the series as Abby Cunningham, a character who subsequently became the core of the show and its primary villain.
- 'Safe Haven' is a spin-off of the series 'Dallas' (1978-1991). However, the project was developed long before 'Dallas' was created and was put on the air thanks to its success.
