Short description
The trials and tribulations of a two man, digi-folk band who have moved from New Zealand to New York City in the hope of forging a successful music career. So far they've managed to find a manager (whose "other" job is at the New Zealand Consulate), one fan (a married obsessive) and one friend (who owns the local pawn shop) -- but not much else.

What's left behind the scenes
- Before the HBO series, it was a BBC radio show.
- During the photo shoot, Murray states that compared to Jemaine Clement, Bret McKenzie looks so small that he could be in 'The Lord of the Rings.' McKenzie did indeed play small roles in the first and third parts of Peter Jackson's film trilogy — 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring' (2001) and 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' (2003).
- In one of the episodes, it is claimed that all the Grammy Awards won by the main characters were fake, but the musicians of the comedy duo actually did win such an award for Best Comedy Album.
- Initially, New Zealand television rejected the idea for the series.
- During the filming of the first season, Jemaine Clement came down with pneumonia. However, the schedule was so tight that he was forced to continue writing and recording songs regardless.
