What's left behind the scenes
- The fight scenes in the series were choreographed by Bruce Lee (1940-1973), who also trained the lead actor, Van Williams (1934-2016), in martial arts.
- Kato is a Japanese name because in the 1936 radio play, Kato was Japanese. Due to global events, his nationality was changed in 1939. For a short time, Kato was made Korean, and then throughout nearly all of the 1940s, he was Filipino. By the late 1960s, he was considered simply Asian, which allowed Chinese-American Bruce Lee (1940-1973) to be cast in the role for the television series. Kato is considered Chinese in Seth Rogen's 'The Green Hornet' (2011) as a tribute to Lee, while in most 21st-century versions, his origin is once again considered Japanese.
