Short description
Blood Ties is a Canadian television series based on the Blood Books by Tanya Huff; the show was created by Peter Mohan. It is set in Toronto, Canada and has a similar premise to an earlier series also set in Toronto, Forever Knight, in which a vampire assists police in dealing with crime. What's left behind the scenes
- The character of Henry Fitzroy is based on the real-life illegitimate son of King Henry VIII of England, known as Henry, Duke of Richmond. He died at the age of 17 (1519-1536). In the series, Henry was turned into a vampire at that exact age.
- Although the series is set in Toronto, it was filmed in Vancouver. Production began in August 2006 and concluded in March 2007.
- Michael Eklund, who played Norman, originally auditioned for the role of Mike Selucci.
- The building used as Vicki's apartment in the series also served as Scully's apartment in 'The X-Files' while that show was being filmed in Vancouver.
- Henry is not only a vampire but also a graphic novel writer. This differs from the book, where Henry is a romance novelist.
