What's left behind the scenes
- Paul Bettany initially agreed to play the role of William Masters, but he left the project and was replaced by Michael Sheen.
- The decision to make Virginia a mother for the third time, along with the disclaimer after every episode starting from the third season stating that Tessa, Henry, and Johnny are fictional characters, were measures intended to avoid lawsuits from the actual children and grandchildren of William Masters and Virginia Johnson.
- It was initially intended that Bo Bridges would only appear in the pilot episode, but the show's creators liked his performance so much that he was moved from a supporting role to the main cast.
