What's left behind the scenes
- For eight weeks in 1996, John Oliver hosted the satirical program 'The Daily Show' and earned such love from the audience that HBO offered him his own weekly show, created specifically for him.
- John Oliver did not want the new show to become a clone of 'The Daily Show,' so he agreed to host it only on the condition that it would feature neither field correspondents nor other hosts.
