Season 2 The era of the Savastano clan, who once undisputedly reigned over Naples, seems to be hopelessly over. What lies ahead now is the largest ever power vacuum in the history of the Camorra. Season 5 The clash between the Levantes and Patrizia left Naples in a pile of bricks forcing Genny to give up his dream of normality and return to action. • Salvatore Esposito was initially hired to help other candidates during auditions, but he made such an impression on the directors that they invited him to audition himself and eventually gave him the role.
• Roberto Saviano, author of the novel of the same name upon which this series is based, has lived under 24-hour police protection for the last 10 years. According to Saviano, when the novel was first released in 2006, members of criminal organizations gave copies of it to one another as gifts, but as the novel's popularity grew, so did the threat to Saviano's life.
• Director Stefano Sollima was unable to participate in the work on the third season of the series due to commitments to other projects.
• Pietro Savastano (played by Fortunato Cerlino) is based on Paolo Di Lauro, who had been on Italy's most wanted list since 2002 and was captured in 2005. The prototype for Genny, played by Salvatore Esposito, was Cosimo's eldest son, who took the helm of the criminal clan when Di Lauro spiraled into despair after the death of another son, Vincenzo, in a car accident.
