Short description
Loving parodies of some of the world's best-known documentaries. Each episode is shot in a different style of documentary filmmaking, and honors some of the most important stories that didn't actually happen.

What's left behind the scenes
- While working on several episodes, Fred Armisen visited Iceland and Colombia.
- The artist from the sketch 'Eyes Don't Lie' turned out to be the same artist who appeared in the sketch 'Thin Blue Line.' This happened by chance; the show's creators sincerely believed they had simply found the first available artist who worked for the police.
- Each season was filmed in 4–6 weeks.
- The idea to create a mockumentary came to Seth Meyers, Bill Hader, and Fred Armisen while working on the 'Story of a Punk' sketch for the series 'Saturday Night Live' (1975-).
