What's left behind the scenes

  • Bluey, Bingo, and the other children were voiced by children from the animated series' creative team, who requested that their names not be listed in the credits.
  • David McCormack, who voiced the father, had never been to the LUDO studio. Before filming for the Tonight Show, he had never even met face-to-face with Melanie Zanetti from Brisbane, who voiced the mother (his spouse). They both recorded their characters' lines at studios in different cities and even countries (Zanetti, for example, was filming in the US during the recording process), and these recordings were later mixed and edited in Brisbane.
  • Mackenzie, Bluey's friend, is a black-and-white Border Collie with a New Zealand accent. Her presence in the plot is a reference to the popular New Zealand comics and cartoons about Footrot, a black-and-white dog of the same breed.
  • The events of the episode "Adventure" from Season 1 and "Army" from Season 2 take place on the same day. When Joey goes to school in "Army," Bluey and Chloe can be seen in the background playing princesses, as they do in "Adventure." At the beginning of the episode "Shop" from Season 3, Jack and Rusty can be seen in the background playing army.
  • The episode 'Grandfather' contains a reference to Peter Jackson's 2001 blockbuster 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.' At one point, Chilly searches for the father and children on a forest road while they hide under the roots of a tree, later throwing something aside to distract her.
  • Many episodes feature a long, sausage-like dog (in the episode 'Charades,' for example, it hides among the knitting on a sofa). It was created in the first season by the background artists.
