What's left behind the scenes
- Dafne Keen, who played Lyra, is the daughter of Will Keen, the actor who played McPhail's father.
- The title is taken from John Milton's (1608-1674) poem 'Paradise Lost' (1667).
- Leonardo da Vinci's (1452-1519) painting "Lady with an Ermine" (1489-1490), in particular, helped Philip Pullman visualize the concept of animal daemons. Pullman is the author of the "His Dark Materials" trilogy (1995, 1997, 2000).
