Short description
A coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and numerous challenges, fights for love and acceptance and for her place in the world. The series centers on a young orphaned girl in the late 1890s, who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an elderly woman and her aging brother. Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform their lives and eventually the small town in which they live with her unique spirit, fierce intellect and brilliant imagination.

What's left behind the scenes
- The title of each episode is a quote from Charlotte Brontë's (1816-1855) novel 'Jane Eyre' (1847). The titles of the second season's episodes use quotes from George Eliot's (1819-1880) 1871 novel 'Middlemarch,' while the third season's episodes use quotes from Mary Shelley's (1797-1851) 'Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus' (1818).
- Despite decent ratings, the series was canceled after the third season due to relationship issues between Netflix and the CBC. Fans launched a support campaign on Twitter. Since the show's cancellation, the hashtag #RenewAnnewithanE has been used over a million times. The producers attempted to film a fourth season for a different channel other than Netflix, or even make a movie, but these intentions came to nothing.
