What's left behind the scenes
- All the actors involved in the series had to learn ASL (the primary sign language used in the deaf community of the US and English-speaking parts of Canada) to be able to communicate with Sean Bird (a deaf film and television actor who played Sam).
- Screenwriter Christopher Kayser and director Marc Webb began promoting the idea for the series in 2014. The premium channel Showtime (owned by ViacomCBS) showed interest in the project, and a script was written. However, the corporation later decided against filming the series.
