What's left behind the scenes
- The series is based on the story of a Dutch drug lord named Janus van V. He did indeed run an ecstasy distribution network and was arrested in 2009 during a police operation. In reality, the two undercover agents posing as a married couple were Belgian, whereas the series states the wife was from Holland. The drug lord was sentenced to 10 years in prison but was released in 2015 on the condition that he never set foot in Belgium again. Janus van V. went into hiding and was extremely irritated to learn about the filming of the series. His lawyers attempted to secure an injunction against the production, arguing that the series detailed their client's criminal activities, but they were unable to find and provide sufficient evidence, and the case never even reached court.
- The film was shot in Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and the Rostov region, as well as in Paris and Rome.
