What's left behind the scenes
- The storyline is based on the true story of Isaac Wright Jr. He was accused of a crime he did not commit and sentenced to prison. While incarcerated, he became a lawyer and helped twenty other prisoners with wrongful convictions, eventually managing to prove his own innocence.
- Nicholas Pinnock's character was appointed as a 'prisoner representative.' Once a month, the prisoner representative (there may be more than one) meets with the warden to discuss issues directly affecting the inmates. This practice was adopted following the riots at Attica Correctional Facility in New York state in 1971, when prisoners rebelled, demanding improved living conditions and political rights.
