What's left behind the scenes

While preparing for the role, Hayden Christensen rewatched all the films in the Star Wars franchise, as well as the movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) and the animated series Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018).
Upon completing work on the sequel trilogy ("Star Wars: The Force Awakens", 2015; "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", 2017; "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker", 2019), composer John Williams vowed never to deal with the Star Wars universe again; however, he called executive producer Kathleen Kennedy and offered to write something for this series simply because Obi-Wan Kenobi never had his own musical theme, and Williams wanted to write one.
Director Deborah Chow wanted Hayden Christensen to play Anakin/Darth Vader again so badly that she personally approached the actor with an offer to participate in the project.
When Disney officially announced the project (originally it was intended to be a film, but it was ultimately decided to make a mini-series), actor Ewan McGregor revealed that he had known about it for at least four years.
The credits state that Darth Vader is voiced by James Earl Jones, but he did not record any new lines for this series. Samples of the actor's voice were taken from archival materials of the original trilogy and processed using modern technology. Jones has not voiced the character since September 2022, but Lucasfilm was granted permission to use his voice in future installments of the franchise.
