What's left behind the scenes
- The character of Orlov is based on the real-life personality of Grigory Orlov, who led a successful conspiracy against Peter.
- Nicholas Hoult was added to the cast after the series creator, Tony McNamara, saw him rehearsing for Yorgos Lanthimos's drama 'The Favourite'.
- The scene involving urinating on wheat depicts a real pregnancy detection method used in ancient Egypt. According to modern research, its accuracy reached up to 70%.
