A Great Friend is a comedy about the encounter between two men with opposing lifestyles. Vincent, a successful and busy entrepreneur, finds his routine interrupted when his car breaks down on a mountain road. He is helped by Pierre, a man who lives in nature away from modern society. The film was written and directed by Éric Besnard, appearing as the second project in a sequence of films that includes Delicious, Miss Violet, and Jean Valjean. The cast features Lambert Wilson as Vincent and Grégory Gadebois as Pierre, with Marie Gillain, Betty Pierucci Berthoud, Magali Bonat, and Antoine Gouy in supporting roles.
Produced in France by several companies including Canal+ and France 3 Cinéma, the movie had a budget of 6 million USD and earned an equal amount at the worldwide box office.
