Molière's Last Stage

Set in Paris on February 17, 1673, this historical drama and comedy centers on Molière during a performance of The Imaginary Invalid. After beginning to cough up blood, the playwright decides to continue the show despite his condition. As he suffers through his final moments, he welcomes the ghosts and figures from his past into the theater. He struggles to maintain his dignity, attempting to turn his own passing into a final joke.

The film was directed by Olivier Py, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Bertrand de Roffignac and appeared in the role of Marquis de Roffignac. The cast features Laurent Lafitte as the title character, alongside Stacy Martin, Jeanne Balibar, Judith Magre, and Dominique Frot.
