Legion of Super-Heroes

Kara Zor-El, still reeling from the destruction of Krypton, finds life on Earth difficult to settle into in this animated DC adventure. Her cousin Superman, acting as a mentor, points her toward the Legion Academy in the 31st century, a move that takes her out of their own era. At the Academy she builds new friendships and clashes with Brainiac 5, a classmate with whom she shares a complicated history. A further threat comes from the Dark Circle, a secretive organization pursuing a powerful weapon stored in the Academy's vault.

The film is directed by Jeff Wamester, whose earlier animated DC features include Justice Society: World War II and Green Lantern: Beware My Power, both released before this one. Josie Campbell wrote the screenplay, and Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau produced. Meg Donnelly voices Kara, with Harry Shum Jr. as Brainiac 5, Gideon Adlon as Phantom Girl, Darren Criss as Superman, Matt Bomer as the Flash and Jensen Ackles as Batman. It runs 84 minutes.

Released in February 2023, the film drew modest audience scores: on IMDb it holds 5.9 out of 10 across roughly 5,700 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 out of 10 from about 230 votes. The larger IMDb sample points to a mixed reaction, and the two figures are close enough to suggest a similar reception among the audiences who sought it out.
