All the Beauty and the Bloodshed is a documentary about the photographer Nan Goldin, tracing both her artistic life and her campaign against the Sackler family, the pharmaceutical dynasty behind OxyContin. The film moves between Goldin's slide shows, interviews and photographs and her later activism, including protests inside museums that had accepted Sackler money, as she and others sought to hold the family accountable for the opioid crisis in the United States.
Laura Poitras directed the film, following Citizenfour (2014) in her chronological filmography and preceding Cover-Up (2025) and They're Here (2026). Producers were John S. Lyons, Howard Gertler and Poitras, with Participant among the production companies. Nan Goldin appears as herself, alongside Marina Berio, Noemi Bonazzi, Harry Cullen and Megan Kapler, while David Wojnarowicz appears through archive footage; twenty-four cast members and forty-five crew members are credited. Running 122 minutes, the film was released in November 2022.
The film drew strong notices from critics, whose rating of 8.7/10 from 145 reviews stands well above the audience scores of 7.5/10 on IMDb from 9,200 votes and 7.1/10 on TMDB from 176 votes. Its worldwide box office of about 1 million US dollars is modest, consistent with a documentary of this kind.
