A scientist named Devlin creates a device to control tornadoes, but a malfunction causes a storm to spiral out of control. After hitting a gas station, the vortex becomes a massive pillar of fire. While Devlin and his team attempt to rescue people from the disaster, a group of armed criminals uses the chaos to target a mafia accountant. The plot follows the accountant as he tries to survive both the pursuit of the robbers and the advancing firestorm.
