Mia is a lonely teenager living in an Australian town, and she and her friends find a strange kind of entertainment: an embalmed hand that lets them contact the dead. Someone holds the hand, speaks the words and lets a spirit into their body, while the others keep time. The group treats it as a thrill, filming the sessions and sharing them, until one of them stays connected too long and something goes wrong. What follows is a haunting that the friends cannot simply stop or undo.

The film was directed by Michael Philippou and Danny Philippou, working from a screenplay they wrote with Bill Hinzman. It is the first feature they directed, followed by Bring Her Back in 2025. Sophie Wilde plays Mia, with Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, Miranda Otto and Zoe Terakes among the cast. Kristina Ceyton and Samantha Jennings produced, and the film was made in Australia and the United Kingdom with a budget of five million dollars. It went on to take about ninety-two million dollars worldwide, a large return on its cost. On IMDb it holds 7.1 from roughly 212,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.1 from around 3,969 votes, while critics gave it 7.7 from 301 reviews.
