Collision Course

A Japanese investigator and a Detroit police officer form an unlikely partnership to recover a stolen prototype turbocharger. As they track down a Japanese engineer and industrial secrets, the pair struggles to cooperate due to their clashing personalities and prejudices. Their mutual hostility creates various complications throughout the investigation, though they gradually move toward a friendship as the case progresses.

Released in 1989, Collision Course was directed by Lewis Teague. It follows six other projects in his career, including Cat's Eye and The Jewel of the Nile, and precedes Navy Seals and Wedlock. The film stars Pat Morita as Investigator Fujitsuka Natsuo and Jay Leno as Detective Tony Costas, with a supporting cast that includes Chris Sarandon, Tom Noonan, Ernie Hudson, and John Hancock.
