Aliens visit Earth during the Stone Age to collect and document living specimens. A sudden earthquake and eruption force the extraterrestrial ship to depart, leaving behind a massive specimen-gathering robot that is swallowed by the earth. In the modern era, the robot is accidentally reactivated during excavation work in a quarry, causing the ancient mission to resume.
