Brigitte Fitzgerald is still fighting the werewolf infection she picked up from her sister Ginger. The antidote she has been taking, made from the monkshood plant, keeps the change at bay but does not cure her, and when she takes too much of it she is committed to a rehabilitation clinic for drug addicts. Stripped of her supply, she finds the transformation speeding up while a creature that is hunting her closes in, and her sister's ghost seems to follow her as well. Her one ally inside the clinic is an odd young resident nicknamed Ghost.
The film is a Canadian production directed by Brett Sullivan, written by Megan Martin and produced by Steven Hoban, Grant Harvey and Paula Devonshire. It is the second entry in the Ginger Snaps series, released in 2004, and Sullivan's first directorial credit, preceding A Christmas Horror Story by eleven years. Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle return as the Fitzgerald sisters, with Tatiana Maslany as Ghost and Eric Johnson, Janet Kidder and Brendan Fletcher in supporting roles.
Made for about four million dollars, the film holds a 6.4 rating on IMDb from roughly 17,000 votes and a 6.5 on TMDB from a much smaller sample, while critics' reviews average 6.5. The modest gap between these figures suggests a horror sequel that satisfies its audience without winning over newcomers.
