As the case progresses, Avril must navigate an absurd legal system and the involvement of the press, animal rights advocates, and politicians to save her client.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Director Léa Drukker once met Justine Triet and learned that she was filming the drama "Anatomy of a Fall," based on her own screenplay about a trial, a visually impaired child, and a dog, and that the film would feature a female lead rather than a male protagonist. Upon hearing all these details, which were identical to the project she was working on herself, Drukker almost abandoned the entire project.
  • Léa Drukker's directorial debut. Producers happened to see "Hate," an experimental play she staged with Yuval Rozman featuring a horse on stage, and told Drukker that if she was capable of that, she could certainly direct a feature film.
  • The idea for the film was born from a real event in France, where a dog bit several passersby, and the subsequent legal proceedings divided the townspeople between those who sided with the dog and those who defended the victims.
