Short description

Dracula II: Ascension follows a group of medical students who come across the body of the infamous count and take it to a morgue for study. When a mysterious figure offers them a large sum of money in exchange for the corpse and access to its blood, they become caught between the lure of the payment and the horror of what they have found. A Vatican-backed vampire hunter, Father Uffizi, is meanwhile on the trail of the same body, and the students' experiments do not go as planned.

The film is a sequel to Dracula 2000 and the second entry in a trilogy directed by Patrick Lussier, who wrote the screenplay with Joel Soisson. Lussier had directed Dracula 2000 and The Prophecy 3: The Ascent before this film, and went on to make Dracula III: Legacy, White Noise 2: The Light, My Bloody Valentine and later features. Jason Scott Lee plays Father Uffizi, with Jason London, Craig Sheffer, Roy Scheider, Brande Roderick and Stephen Billington as Dracula. It runs 84 minutes and was produced by Dimension Films and Castel Film on a budget of 3 million dollars.

Audience reception is modest: on IMDb it holds 4.6/10 from around 5,300 votes, and on TMDB 5.6/10 from 189 votes. A critics' rating of 3.3/10 from seven reviews places it below even the audience scores.
