In My Mother's Skin

Set in the Philippines during World War II, In My Mother's Skin follows a young girl left stranded with her younger brother and their ailing mother after her father, a merchant suspected of stealing gold from the occupying Japanese soldiers, leaves the family behind to seek help. As they wait for him to return and the mother's condition worsens, the daughter takes the protection of her family upon herself. Her sense of duty is undermined when she places her trust in a charming fairy that feeds on human flesh.
