My Animal

Heather is a teenage girl living with her parents and younger brothers in a remote part of Canada, where she plays goalie and nurses ambitions of joining the local men's hockey team. Her life takes a new turn when she meets Jonny, a figure skater who has recently arrived in town. As the two grow close, Heather's feelings come into conflict with a family condition she has kept hidden, one that turns her into a wolf at midnight and puts the people around her in danger.

My Animal is a Canadian-American fantasy horror romance directed by Jacqueline Castel, marking her feature debut, from a screenplay by Jae Matthews. Bobbi Salvör Menuez plays Heather, with Amandla Stenberg as Jonny, and the supporting cast includes Heidi von Palleske, Stephen McHattie, Cory Lipman and Joe Apollonio; twenty-one performers are credited in all. The film runs 99 minutes.

Released in September 2023, the film drew a modest audience response, scoring 4.8 on IMDb from around 1,100 votes and 4.5 on TMDB from a much smaller sample. A critics' rating of 6.1 from 66 reviews places it noticeably above those audience scores.
