Rotting in the Sun

Sebastián Silva, a filmmaker adrift in his career and personal life, takes a holiday at a gay nudist beach in Mexico. There he crosses paths with Jordan Firstman, a social media personality who pushes him to team up on a new television project. The collaboration never gets far: one of the two men vanishes, and the other sets off on a chaotic search through Mexico City to track him down, suspecting that the housekeeper at the missing man's home may somehow be involved.

Sebastián Silva directs and plays a version of himself, with Jordan Firstman doing the same and Catalina Saavedra appearing as Señora Vero. Silva wrote the screenplay with Pedro Peirano, and Jacob Wasserman produced. It is Silva's fourth feature, arriving after The Maid, Magic Magic and Madly, and it blends comedy with mystery and thriller elements.

The film opened in September 2023 and runs 111 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.8 from around 4,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.5 from a much smaller pool of 114 votes. A critics' rating of 6.8 from 57 reviews places it in close agreement with the general audience on IMDb.
