Kangaroo Jack

Charlie Carbone, a New York hairstylist, and his lifelong friend Louis Booker, an aspiring musician, have little to show for their efforts. After a stolen televisions haul accidentally leads police to a warehouse belonging to mob boss Sal Maggio, the pair are given a way to make amends: fly to Australia and hand 50,000 dollars to a contact there. The errand goes wrong when, during a drive through the outback, they hit a kangaroo while photographing it in a jacket holding the cash, and the animal bounds off with the money. Charlie and Louis set out to recover it.

David McNally directed the film, his second feature after Coyote Ugly in 2000. Jerry O'Connell and Anthony Anderson play the two friends, with Estella Warren as a naturalist, Christopher Walken as Sal, and Michael Shannon and Marton Csokas in supporting roles. Scott Rosenberg and Steve Bing wrote the screenplay, and Jerry Bruckheimer produced for Warner Bros. Pictures, Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Castle Rock Entertainment.

Made for about 60 million dollars, the film took in roughly 89 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 4.5/10 from around 36,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.3/10 from about 1,000 votes. A critics' rating of 3.5/10 from 111 reviews places it below even those audience scores.
