Infested

Kaleb is a young man approaching thirty, living in a suburban housing block outside Paris and getting by through small-time hustles. He keeps exotic animals in his apartment, and one day he brings home a venomous spider from North Africa. The spider escapes almost immediately and begins reproducing at a furious rate, with each generation growing larger and more numerous than the last. After a buyer of Kaleb's falls victim to a bite, the police, fearing an outbreak of disease, seal off the building. Kaleb and his neighbours, including Lila, Jordy, Mathys, Manon and Claudia, find themselves trapped alongside the creatures.

Infested is a French horror thriller directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard. It was Vaniček's first feature, followed by Evil Dead Burn in 2026, and was produced by Harry Tordjman. Théo Christine leads a cast of 21 credited performers, with 44 credited crew members.

Released in December 2023, the film took about 2 million dollars worldwide at the box office, a modest figure consistent with a genre title from a first-time director. On IMDb it holds 6.2/10 from around 15,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5/10 from roughly 629 votes. A critics' rating of 7.6/10 from 66 reviews places it noticeably above both audience scores, suggesting stronger approval among reviewers than among general viewers.
