Restore Point

Set in 2041, this science fiction thriller takes place in a world where digital backups of the human brain are created every two days. This technology allows victims of violent crimes or accidents to be brought back to life. A detective utilizes this system to investigate a murder case after one member of a killed couple is successfully restored. The story explores the ethical implications of this technology and the societal instability caused by deep economic and social inequality.

The film was directed by Robert Hloz, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Tomislav Čečka and Zdeněk Jecelín. This production followed his 2014 film Transient Consciousness. The cast is led by Andrea Mohylová, Matěj Hádek, Milan Ondrík, Václav Neužil, Karel Dobrý, and Agáta Červinková.

A joint production between the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Serbia, the movie had a budget of 2 million USD. Since its release in September 2023, it has maintained a consistent reception among viewers, holding a 6.1 rating on IMDb from 3,500 votes and a 6.1 rating on TMDB from 159 votes.
