The Angel

The Angel is an experimental French fantasy film that blends live action and animation without using dialogue. The story follows masked figures as they ascend a vast, varied staircase. At various levels, characters appear trapped by their own foolishness and past actions. This spiritual journey through symbolic scenes eventually leads the climbers toward a bright region where humans and non-human beings encounter one another.

Written and directed by Patrick Bokanowski, this was the first of three films he directed, followed by The Beach and Beyond. The cast includes Rita Renoir, Maurice Baquet, Martine Couture, Jean-Marie Bon, René Patrignani, and Mario Gonzales.

The movie has received generally positive feedback from viewers, holding a 7.3 rating on IMDb based on 727 votes and a 6.8 rating on TMDB from 25 votes.
