Set in Paris starting in 1963, this comedy drama follows Esther, a mother in a large family who refuses to accept a medical diagnosis regarding her youngest son, Roland. Born with a foot deformity that prevents him from standing, Roland is told he will never walk. Ignoring professional advice, Esther vows that her son will lead a wonderful life and walk like anyone else. The story tracks their relationship over several decades as Esther employs an unwavering will to ensure Roland overcomes his physical limitations and finds success and happiness.
The film was written and directed by Ken Scott, following his previous work on Starbuck, Delivery Man, Unfinished Business, and The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. It features a cast including Leïla Bekhti as Esther, Jonathan Cohen as the adult Roland, and Joséphine Japy. The production was a collaboration between companies from Canada, the United States, and France, including Amazon MGM Studios and Gaumont.
