Boneyard
Short description
Boneyard is a crime thriller set in the New Mexico desert, where the discovery of the remains of eleven women and girls triggers a large-scale investigation. Police Chief Carter, played by 50 Cent, brings in FBI Special Agent Petrovick, played by Mel Gibson, to build a profile of the killer behind the so-called boneyard killings. Detective Ortega, played by Brian Van Holt, and Detective Young, played by Nora Zehetner, are also drawn into the case. As the police, narcotics agents and the FBI pursue their own priorities and clash over methods, suspicion spreads across everyone involved in the inquiry.
The film is directed by Asif Akbar, who wrote the screenplay with Vincent E. McDaniel and Koji Steven Sakai, and also produced it with Colin Bates and McDaniel. It is his sixth feature, arriving after Skeletons in the Closet the same year and followed by A Crime Story in 2026. The cast of 43 credited performers is led by Gibson, 50 Cent, Van Holt, Zehetner, Gabrielle Haugh and Spice Williams-Crosby. Running 96 minutes, Boneyard is an American production from Avail Entertainment, One Dollar Studios and The Film Post.
The film has drawn a rating of 4.1 out of 10 on IMDb from around 6,200 votes, and a 5.4 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 200 votes. Both audience scores point to a largely negative reception, with the much larger IMDb sample indicating a fairly consistent response to this desert-set procedural.
